Resetting Discussion and Post IDs in Flarum

I hope this post finds you well. I am reaching out to discuss a potential shift in the purpose and focus of my forum, which is currently based on Flarum software. In the early stages of development, I believe it's crucial to ensure that our forum aligns with the evolving needs and interests of my community.

I'm considering a shift in topics, tags, and overall forum focus. I believe this adjustment will better serve my existing community (it i small) and create a more engaging and valuable space for discussions.

I'm interested in resetting discussion and post IDs to ensure a seamless transition. Basically, I will delete most of existing post and discussions as I do not want to build forum from scratch. If you have experience or insights into achieving this within the Flarum framework, your guidance would be highly appreciated.

lighthouse you could simply reset the MySQL auto-increment value to the highest ID that remains after you delete the posts you don't want anymore. Flarum does not generate that value, it lets MySQL pick the IDs.

Are the IDs really that important though? It will cause no issue at all if you have hundreds or thousands of discussion/post/tags MySQL ID values that no longer exist in the sequence. Tag and post IDs are never visible to the end user. Only discussion IDs are visible in the URL but even there I doubt most people would notice or care what the values are. Higher values shown to the users could even give the impression the forum is more active/established than it actually is, which could be desirable.
