Revive Achievements Extension(s)

GreXXL · 2023-11-27T07:31:13+00:00

I do propose to revive the achievement-extension (#26675) as I think it is a nice feature that can in certain communities help activity. Ideally this would be on a stable basis that can be supported for a prolonged time (eg. FoF). The current extension has some unresolved issues - as well as an inactive maintainer. Edit: Also relevant: https://discuss.flarum.org/d/33705-revive-achievements-extensions/7_ Edit 2: This proposal aims to take all available abandoned extensions and build one Achievement / Badge extension. Either in conjunction with a maintained automation solution like AutoMod, or baked into the extension. This might be a good case for a bounty.

luceos thx for clarifying, if i have time i will implement this too

Wlork

Justoverclock Thank you 🙂

I'm very interested in the badge extension. I've always found its disappearance sad.

It already seem very complete. Just a few small corrections to be made, notably on the display of badges in the discussions page.

it seems excellent extension. Does it support category based discusson calculation? For instance, someone create discussions about nature category more than 10 and I would like to give nature-lover badge for him. Can I do it with this extension? @Justoverclock

Justoverclock Is it compatible with 1.8.8?

Sorry l think this extension is very good : https://flarum.org/extension/gtdxyz/flarum-ext-badges
But why use this metod?

https://flarum.org/extension/gtdxyz/flarum-ext-badges extension abonded?

l used this v17development-user-badges extension but l can know this extension not support?

Capybara

Mirzaagha I'm using the badge version you mentioned. Its difference is that it is not compatible with the automoderator, so it is impossible to automate the process. But own images look beautiful — take a look

Mirzaagha

Capybara Does the extension you use work automatically?

Mirzaagha

Capybara and what is name extension

Capybara

Mirzaagha This. It's not automatic

HasanMerkit

Justoverclock did you plan adding multi language support for future?

Mirzaagha

Capybara I need an up-to-date automatic moderator for Flarum that works on the stable version. It should automatically assign badges to users based on specific criteria (e.g., post count, activity, etc.). Could you recommend a stable module for this purpose?

Sconnie

I just launched two communities and came across several posts, mainly about the issue with badges not being able to be converted to images without workarounds. I read this entire thread and I'm curious to know what an update is for FoF, revival of the old extensions, new extensions, or any update in general. I'd also like to show my support for this and to see if it is even worth while to pledge on this still.

Now that I have some real experience building extensions, I’m kicking off a unified Achievements & Badges extension with built-in automation — exactly what this discussion is about.

I guess every good extension starts with a name, so I’ll stick to my style and call it Magic Rewards. I’ll build on two existing extensions — Achievements and Badges — and credit their authors

Wlork

Capybara It's really great to have developers like you. Take your time, thank you in advance for your work 🙂

Capybara Hello -- just curious to see how things are going. I am back to look at the new Beta 4 for V2 and decided to check in on some of the other features I've flagged as things I'd want.

How are things progressing with Magic Rewards? 🙂

Hi! I’m planning to release the first version of the extension in the second half of January or early February — making progress little by little. A few details:

I’ve clearly separated badges and achievements. Badges are text labels with icons, while achievements are full images
There’s a dedicated profile page with tabs for received badges and achievements
Both achievements and badges can be mounted in the UserCard
Right now I’m figuring out how automatic event-based awarding should work
In the long run, I want to add support for 3D achievements so users can rotate them with the mouse

Are you thinking of allowing admins to build out a trigger based system this would allow us to choose how and what we want to trigger an award? Or what are you currently thinking for the mechanics?

Capybara

Sconnie Regarding triggers, I’m using the predefined ones whose logic comes from the old achievements extension. They’re simple, basic triggers like post count, having an avatar, and so on. I’m not planning custom triggers yet — maybe in one of the future iterations
