My college has a great alumni mailing list/forum setup, and I would like to replicate it. My purpose is to create a forum for parents of kids in my son's high school, and then roll it out to other schools.
It's email-first. There's a web forum, but people primarily start topics by emailing the list, and then reply to the emails.
Most people get emails in the form of a daily digest. You can opt to get every mail individually as they are posted, or to do a daily or weekly digest. You can reply to the digest to post to the list, or there are links in the digest to reply to a specific thread.
You can subscribe to various sub-lists, and only get emails for those lists. For example, you might subscribe to #7th_grade, or #marching_band. Each sub-list generates its own digest.
Because I'd like to roll this out to other schools, it should be easy to spin up a new site.
The forums have to be private, invite-only, limited to just parents.
A really nice-to-have would a be a single parent login for multiple schools. Many parents have their kids attending different schools, with some in elementary school and some in high school.
Can Flarum do these things? Which specific extensions should I look at?
