JakeMcCarroll I believe there should be an extension that sends a customisable welcome email to everyone who registers on your site. My ideas; The email would only be sent once; so even if the email address is changed in the future, they don’t receive the email again It works with FoF/PrettyMail Completely customised welcome message That’s all! Thank you!
tolgaaaltas Can the password for users created from the admin panel be included in the e-mail? This would be a nice feature.
jslirola tolgaaaltas This is a bad practice and we should never see a password in plain text. Users can use the "Forgot Password" feature, so there is no reason to implement it.
jslirola Let me ask a few questions that might help define the requirements. When should the welcome email be sent? Once the user has confirmed their email or before? If this happens after email confirmation, what happens to forums where accounts are automatically activated? It should be considered that it is compatible with this extension. Optional? Would you like to have the ability to preview or send a test message to the admin. Optional? Are you interested in knowing which users have received the welcome email? This information could be included in the profile, visible to the administrator. Optional? What about users already registered on the forum? Do you need a button to forward the email or will they simply not be aware of this new feature? Optional?
ctml jslirola it should be compatible and not matter if they are automatically activated or not imo If this happens after email confirmation, what happens to forums where accounts are automatically activated? It should be considered that it is compatible with this extension. Optional?
JakeMcCarroll jslirola I want the email to be sent as the account has been made; a test email would be nice to help debug. It doesn’t matter if an already registered user receives it, and it doesn’t matter if we know of a user has received it
luceos JakeMcCarroll would this need to be send before the verification email then? I personally think it's bad practice sending unverified users emails. It also badly impacts your email sending reputation, especially if you don't use a dedicated service.
JakeMcCarroll luceos that is correct; it would be nice if it was sent after the email is verified, but wouldn’t it mean it would be triggered if you verify a different email by changing it, etc.?
JakeMcCarroll So here’s the basic list of requirements; Works with custom HTML- ability to override prettymail? sends after the email is verified; only once though, not if the email is changed. sends even if email isn’t required, such as oauth. The ability to send a test mail to the admin user, for debugging customisable message (as a given)
