Twemoji vs Native Emoji Flarum long term plans

What are the pros and cons of using Twemoji instead of Native Emoji on Flarum?

Will Flarum 2.0 continue to use Twemoji in the official emoji extension?

I'm trying to understand if I should continue to invest in supporting Twemoji or give up on it. The Twitter layoffs apparently impacted the people who were maintaining Twemoji and also killed the original free CDN that was hosting it.

It's simple enough to switch to another CDN, but I'm wondering what the long term plans are for the core Flarum emoji extension.

I am not aware of any necessary reconsiderations related to this extension.

luceos At least one thing to consider. Twemoji from Twitter is dead but a new version lives on here with support for Unicode and Emoji 15.0.0:
