anon917 I've enabled video uploads via FoF Upload but when I upload an mp4 (locally), there is no way to play the video directly within the thread - the only option is to download the video. I have scoured the forums and cannot find an extension to enable an in-thread video player for user uploaded videos. I see plenty of extensions that embed video links, but nothing for uploaded videos that are stored locally. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Kevo I have also been wondering how to do this. Is it possible to add detection of local URLs with certain extensions to the existing fof/formatting plugin? I'm not really sure how it works, but it seems like there ought to be some simple solution for something like an mp4 video which I believe all browsers will play natively.
clarkwinkelmann Kevo try the AutoVideo feature that can be enabled with the FriendsOfFlarum Formatting extension. EDIT: didn't realize you had mentioned the extension already. Is it not working? Use the "just URL" template in FoF Upload. The downside is that the video might not work on all browsers or devices depending on the file format.
Kevo clarkwinkelmann Yes, it is working, but not how I expected it to. After deleting the existing files and uploading new ones it started putting the https URLs in the posts and then the videos started showing up as expected. Since I started with the default template the formatter wasn't catching the URLs and apparently the template is assigned on upload. That was surprising to me. Anyway, thanks and sorry for the confusion on my part.
clarkwinkelmann Kevo yes indeed, FoF Upload template settings only apply to new uploads. If you have existing uploads you want to convert, this would require some search&replace on the database content.
