Follow-up: default emoji picker

Hi all,

I would like to follow up on the closed topic https://discuss.flarum.org/d/30818-strange-issue-with-flarum-emoji-when-clicked-shows-regional-indicator-a-b-c/13

I still see room for improvement. The current solution is just not intuitive.

You click on the smiley to insert an emoji, and then the first thing you are seeing are those strange indicator icons.

Can't we display the most popular smileys there, such as happy face, sad face, laughing, etc?

What do you think?

The best solution (imo) would be to revive the Flamoji extension which was probably the best emoji extension available while it worked.

ctml why not make this small improvement to the default one as suggested?

This would not require installing a separate extension just to have standard emojis available.

The built-in picker is pretty minimal which I understand is the essence of flarum core. Though I think myself and many users would prefer something slightly more advanced like Flamoji. Having categories for emojis is pretty standard nowadays. However you're probably right that it would likely make sense to just address that one thing, and a separate proposal be raised to revive Flamoji or additional features be added to the built-in picker.
