Best Practice for Core and Extension Update

I'm currently running v1.8.5 with a number of extensions [<<20], Looking forward to update the core as well as the extensions in total.

Notable Factors :
I'm on a Shared Environment, and, even in my user account i'm operating flarum in a subdirectory [domain.tld/forum], not running via the public folder [public folder removed - non /public url]

What are the best practices for a total update:
For core, May i know what is the latest stable core version?
For Extensions, Should i update in bulk to fetch the latest stable versions of the respective extensions?

Any idea?

Make a backup of your database.
Update everything in one swoop. Either with the extension manager or with composer.

For composer use

composer update --prefer-dist --no-dev -a
php flarum migrate
php flarum cache:clear
