Users Session Expire but the UI does not reflect it

So many times while doing my migration I have noticed that all of a sudden I start getting errors with everything I do. Only to realize the session has expired and I have to log out then back in. Is there no way to put up a warning saying the session has expired or redirect to the login page? seems like this was an issue 10 years ago?

Cant we just add a JS redirect timer that is 5 seconds longer then the session? Then after it expires it will just do a refresh which will see the session cookie has expired and redirect you to the login and update the interface? Or at minimum if you don't want a user to loose their data by doing a refresh (that would be annoying in the middle of a large post and you get pulled into something else) pop up a red bar at the top of the screen explaining their session has expired. Copy any important data before refreshing !!

Problem is I don't want to keep their sessions alive I do want them to expire. I just want to make sure a use knows when they are logged out because its really confusing to get random error messages and not know why

MrCaspan I'd agree. Seems like it'd be better UX to force a page refresh if a user's session is set to log out and actually log them out...

When I was tinkering with flarum, it seems like it does the opposite. The user session times out, but they don't know because it appears they're still logged in, so it'll error out, then they'll need to log back in to continue doing anything.
