How to add Subscriptions / Extiverse?

I bought an extension. Now I can't add it to the extension manager. Can I only do that via shell?! I thought I could do this in the manager in the admin area? Why is it so complicated?

I'm following the instructions under Subscriptions / List, but it doesn't work. Are there better instructions somewhere? Or an easier method for someone who doesn't know much about it?
