I’d like to propose an extension that could significantly enhance engagement on niche forums by intelligently seeding discussions in a controlled manner. Currently, while we have users, many are hesitant to initiate discussions due to the low volume of existing content. This creates a cycle where potential discussions never gain momentum.
Concept
The proposed extension would allow administrators to create and manage controlled discussions using pre-selected or randomized user accounts. The system would automate discussion generation and replies, ensuring organic-looking engagement.
Key Features:
1. User Selection – Admins can choose specific users or allow the system to pick from a predefined list.
2. Discussion Topics – Option to manually input discussion questions or have the system suggest emerging topics.
3. Automated Replies – Admins can define 5-10 replies per topic, which the system posts at natural, non-instantaneous intervals.
4. Time Control – Replies can be posted at predefined or randomized time gaps to ensure an organic discussion flow.
5. Background Tasks – Ability to run multiple seeding tasks in the background, up to hardware limitations.
Benefits:
• Kickstarts discussions in niche forums, encouraging real users to participate.
• Maintains a steady flow of relevant content without overwhelming the forum with obvious bot activity.
• Ensures that even emerging topics receive structured attention and engagement.
Next Steps
I’d like to explore the possibility of putting this on bounty or having the in-house development team work on it. Alternatively, are there existing tools or plans that align with this concept?
Looking forward to hearing thoughts from the team and the community.
