Is there an estimated timeline for the stable release of Flarum 2.0?

I'm planning to deploy a Flarum forum into my website using PostgreSQL as the database, which requires Flarum 2.0. Is there an estimated timeline for the stable release of Flarum 2.0?

FishHawk as long as you don't need additional extensions, Flarum v2 is currently stable enough as is. You might still encounter bugs, but from what I've seen they're very unlikely. The reason we're holding off from a stable release is due to a delayed security audit and upgrades of community extensions.

The only way the community would collectively update their extension is to release the build, but obviously fix the major importance things for the framework for completion. With Symfony they continue with their major version cycle, and just left the bundle makers behind. To put into context, Symfony major (LTS) version v5.4 to v7.4 is a 2 year gap. Flarum v1.0.0 is currently at 4 year gap, lots of extension were made during that time. Eventually time will get people together and patch/fix their code for Flarum v2.0, looking at the Flarum Extensions website, we are a long way to get the same level of extensions available.

I'm in the process of wanting to use Flarum 2.0 too, and then patch the extensions I need running again.

Yippy I think this is a BIG problem.

The idea of keeping Flarum’s core simple is great, but... then you end up with 1,000 extensions from different developers that require constant updates for each version. Many of them don’t update properly for various reasons, and the whole community ends up limping along.
