Forum conversion: restore message and thread counters

The issue

At the end of the conversion the number of messages in the discussions is 0

I'm trying to install this extension of @clarkwinkelmann but unfortunately I can't because it's an old version.

Your requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages.

Problem 1
- Root composer.json requires migratetoflarum/renumber-posts 0.1.1 -> satisfiable by migratetoflarum/renumber-posts[0.1.1].
- migratetoflarum/renumber-posts 0.1.1 requires flarum/core ⁰.1.0-beta.16 -> found flarum/core[v0.1.0-beta.16] but it does not match your minimum-stability.

Is there a way to force the extension to install?

mafesa the extension was designed for the original Flarum beta. There's a good possibility that the code still works on Flarum 1.x, because it uses the command extender and the command only uses very basic logic and a database structure that didn't change (except for the part where it will update post_number_index, which is no longer needed because that column is no longer used by Flarum)

I'm not sure if there's a way to work around the requirement with Composer alone. The easiest would be to clone the extension into a development folder, modify the extension composer.json, then install the local copy.

Alternatively, you could copy the class and the extender call into your root extend.php, stripping the custom namespace and making sure all necessary use statements are present.

I followed your advice and I managed (following this guide) to install the extension.

I have no errors:

But posts number always remain at 0 even after clearing the cache with php flarum cache:clear

mafesa what the extension does is set the "number" attribute for each post based on chronological order. It does not re-calculate the cached post count for each discussion.

Doing the cached count is not very difficult but I don't have any code example. There's a built-in method on the discussion model that takes care of it.

Edit: tried but I get error when running php flarum recount-posts
