I fixed this by completely removing composer and installing it using the php.exe included with wamp...
And this also fixed another issue where previously in cmd, composer wasn't a command for some reason but after i did this, composer became a command so i ran the standard composer create-project...... Command instead of that complicated one i had earlier and everything went well!
