Install Page Error: "Something went wrong: validation..."

I am a web newbie so I had some issues getting Flarum files up and it took some time but the threads on this forum proved useful.

So far I'm at the install page and I am a bit lost.
I've never set up mysql before so I just left that section blank, I don't know if that's automatic or I need to be doing something there.

I set up the forum title and admin account fields and tried to proceed.

I get the error:
"Something went wrong: validation.required validation.required"
Can someone help me? There is one discussion on the forum about this error (that I could find) that was self solved without explanation.

You cannot skip the mysql config (I don't remember if there are other DB options, but I believe not). The validation error most probably comes from one of your blank fields (not the best error message I can see ? )

Where are you installing Flarum ? If you are on Shared Hosting or like, you often have a GUI in your Dashboard to create new mysql databases (+ users). If you are on a VPS or localhost, you will need to install mysql yourself and configure the new database through command line or a GUI like phpmyadmin.

I am unaware what a table prefix is.

Rowan The table prefix is often used by shared hosts who restrict your usage to a single database, this allows multiple tables called things like "users" by prefixing it as "flarum_users" or similar.

If you don't know what it is, and you can use multiple databases, leave it blank. If you're worried, it will not harm you to add a prefix like flarum_ to the field and let it be like that. That should safeguard you against any problems in the future, assuming you don't use the same database with the same prefix again.
