If this is general feedback can you perhaps share details regarding the hosting company or management panel where the issues happen? Did you try the ZIP download or Composer only? As long as you pick the ZIP file appropriate for your hosting there shouldn't be any extra steps.
I know it can be frustrating getting Flarum setup with Composer, particularly if you have never used or before. That's why the ZIP downloads were added later.
