Currently, when moderators process reported comments, users affected by the moderation decision receive no notification about the outcome or reasoning behind the action. This creates a communication gap that can lead to confusion and repeated violations.
I propose adding a text field where moderators can explain the reasoning behind comment deletions. The system could pre-populate this field with standard information about why the comment was deleted and automatically populate the recipient field with the comment author's username. Additionally, moderators would have the flexibility to write their own custom justification instead of or in addition to the pre-populated text, allowing for more specific explanations when needed.
For dismissed reports, the process would look similar, except the message would be sent to the user who reported the comment.
Such a feature would help users understand community guidelines better and might reduce repeat violations by providing clear feedback 😊
