Why am I leaving Flarum?
First of all, I truly appreciate everyone who has supported me up until now. However, I’ve decided to write my own script within the next year. I’d like to explain why I’ve chosen to leave Flarum.
1. Tags lack multilingual support. Paying a monthly subscription for a extension that solves this - especially in a country with high inflation - doesn’t seem like a smart decision.
2. Profile pictures: The lack of GIF support for avatars and the limitation to 200x200 resolution has seriously disappointed me.
3. Troubleshooting can be very difficult. For example, I’ve grown tired of constantly dealing with Error 500 issues. Currently, enabling "debug" mode crashes the entire site, and I haven’t been able to fix it. I couldn’t find any helpful information in the log files either.
For these reasons, I plan to use Flarum for one more year. By the end of that year, I believe my custom script will be ready, and I’ll be switching to it.
Still, I want to emphasize that Flarum is a great platform.
