Launching a new forum on Flarum 2.0.0-beta.3

From what I can tell, version 2.0.0-beta.3 seems pretty stable. Am I really taking any risks by starting a new forum instead of trying to update an old one? Doesn’t seem like it.

Or will the stable release be very different from the beta, making it impossible to update from beta to stable?

Capybara I personally would wait until at least beta.4 - there are some changes in core that have been needed in order to support some extensions..

Some of the FoF extensions which have been updated already won't work fully with beta.3, for example...

Forogramero You can try launching a forum from scratch — just don’t try to upgrade an existing one. Considering the list of updated FoF extensions for 2.0, the only thing I’m missing to fully start working on the forum is fof/linguist. And as IanM advised, it’s better to wait for the new beta
