Laravel 12 for Flarum 2.x

Are there any plans to upgrade Flarum 2.x to Laravel 12 before the stable release?
When development of 2.xstarted, Laravel 11 was the latest version, but since its security support ends in about four months, it would be great if we could upgrade to Laravel 12 before release — especially since the upgrade should be relatively straightforward

Just a small update on this one, I'll post further on this soon alongside the next beta release.

I've successfully managed to upgrade the Laravel deps for Laravel 12. Only some minor changes were needed code wise, but many, many changes were needed for PHPStan, which also needed to be upgraded to support this.

The changes required can be seen here: flarum/framework4268 and FriendsOfFlarum/redis6

Based on the Laravel Support Policy, we will very likely upgrade again quite soon, and potentially before we hit 2.0 stable. We'll make a finial decision once Laravel 13 is released and we can see exactly what we are dealing with.

Are there any plans to update Laravel after Flarum 2.0 stable release? 2 years of support may not be enough for forum engine - 1.x is almost 5 years old and uses Laravel version that lost support 3 years ago.

rob006 yes, I hope we can continue to upgrade Laravel during the lifespan of 2.x, although this will have to be evaluated as each new Laravel version is released as to if it contains any breaking changes that wouldn't fit within the 2.x codebase.

10 -> 11 -> 12 were reasonably ok, and I hope this will continue 🙂
