get this message when I try to log in as admin

I've not had time to visit the last couple of weeks - and this is only a test site for now, but when I try to access the admin page, I get this message: You do not have permission to access this page.

I'm accessing through myflaruminstall.mydomain.com/admin and can access the front end, but no longer access the back end.

I checked PHPMyAdmin but this must be something before that - I checked the install folder via FTP and the only thing that's changed is .htaccess - I tested that by disabling it for a couple of minutes and still couldn't get in. I'm running SQL 8.1.33

webeecho In order to access the admin dashboard, you must first be logged in as admin on the frontend of the site. Make sure you check the option to stay logged in if it's your primary browser / computer you are intending to accessing it all the time.
Otherwise, if you are logged in and cannot access the admin page, it seems like you may have a misconfiguration somewhere or issues with cookies.
