GreXXL Actually, it's worth sharing how this whole idea came about. It all started with the thought of adapting the Discourse Rewind feature for Flarum, inspired by the yearly recaps done by apps like Spotify, YouTube, Twitch, and Discord.
Essentially, we are planning a personalized year-in-review. What you see right now is just a conceptual design. Once we turn this into an actual extension, things will level up significantly, and various animations will come into play. We could even generate scalable graphics that users can easily share on social media.
The core idea is to answer the question: "What did you do on this forum over the past year?" This extension would likely be activated around December or January. It will generate data based on a snapshot taken in December 2025, meaning any actions taken in January wouldn't be included. A unique dataset will be prepared and personalized for each user. We'll also sprinkle in fun messages like, "You liked this person's posts the most! You two must be BFFs!"
The main goal here isn't just to hand out an annual statistics report or a newsletter; it's to create a stronger, more engaging bond between the user and the community. Of course, we can also notify users with an email saying, "Your year-end recap is ready!"
To be honest, when I first saw this feature on Discourse, I absolutely loved it and decided I had to build this extension by the end of the year. Shortly after, @stryguardian also saw it and reached out to ask what it would look like for us. I excitedly replied, "Let's do it!" haha.
So, that's the story of how we got to this point. I think explaining the background makes the whole vision click into place much better. I truly believe every forum will want to use this feature.
