Question about new member signups

I'm looking at the documentation and I'm not finding my answer.

I'm getting people who signed up complaining that they're NOT getting en email verification.
Yet, I've got people posting so I'm confused - I'm sure I would have disabled a function like that.

Am I missing something?
Have I clicked on something I should NOT have?

JoleneP what have you setup as an email configuration? You can check in storage/logs if there are errors occuring when sending mail. If some are sent and some are not it's likely that you settings are either not right or that you are sending mails from a server where the other mailserver rejects your mail. Like no proper mail configuration and you try sending mails via php mail.

I've always disable the need for email verification on other forum setups. The option is probably looking me in the face but I can't find it. Am I missing something in the permissions?

Flarum is very stressful if you are a fan of all the features included and turn off what you need, but if you are a fan of the scale up with your community requirements, it can be beneficial even if it takes a bit of learning. Keep at it and don’t pull that hair (jealous) too much.

This is an option via the mentioned extension. I would advise to research why mails are getting lost though as this will most likely affect other features like mail notifications as well.

All new products seem to be stressful these days. Or, maybe 27 is the new "Old Person" age and I'm just shaking my first at change.

I can swear that I saw something that disabled email verification without needing an extension.

For the moment, getting rid of all email functions will just make my life simpler. I'm already pulling my hair out on another project because of sending emails and gmail being a problem.

JoleneP it's most likely that you have not configured your domain and mailserver with DKIM and SPF which will cause big players like Google and Microsoft to block mails coming from your server.

oh to be 27 again, I'm not aware of a setting that disabled email activation being required.

I've got all that working on the domains and I still regularly have problems. Honestly, at this point I'm wondering if it's because I'm on russian servers. (Any guess is good right now)

But that's outside of the flarum conversation.

The extension appears to be working; So, I have my fingers crossed that this is the last problem for a long time.

JoleneP i understand that disabling email verification is a temporary fix for you, but I want to address the elephant in the room.
You cannot send any emails from your site... This includes "Forgot my password."
Your users will be locked out infinitely without a resolution moving forward. You need to get emails working.

The most popular Russian hosting provider Reg.ru blocks email functionality for all new VPS by default. You just need to write to support something like «Please unblock email for my VPS», and they usually respond within about 30 minutes

JoleneP that still won't work as the only way to validate a lost password request is directly at the email inbox. You don't want a random to guess your email correctly and hijack your accounts. This is a violation on many regards.

I hear and understand what you're saying.

But what would work for me is a system in which everyone is anonymous and can post without registration under any name they chose. Only the admin has password access.
