Considering myself as a part of most users, i'm still dependent on 1.x (1.8.16) for the forseeable near future, as my community relies heavily on some extentions like webbinaro-calendar, shebaoting-dependency-collector, fof-doorman, glowingblue-password-strength, datlechin-landing-page, clarkwinkelmann-selective-mediaembed and a few more which are not (yet) ported to 2.x.

So despite being really excited about 2.x and already testing several instances in a non-production environment, I would still insist to not leave the 1.x userbase behind.

Support for 1.x is scheduled to end by the end of the year, so there is probably still some value in maintaining it, but we’re talking about just a few more months.

I also took a look at some of the extensions in your stack that haven’t been updated. For example, the calendar extension hasn’t been updated in three years. Do you know whether the author plans to make it compatible with 2.x? If not, it may be worth considering an alternative or requesting a similar extension for 2.x

I also use ti. Very useful extension for communities in general. I vibe coded extension that patches calendar and adjust it to my needs. It would be great to have calendar extension for 2.x

flavour1 Well if @KBExit wants to do a calendar that works for me. I am working on a big project now myself. Turning out to be more than I thought it was.

The above link is calendar on my forum available to guests as well. All forum members have permission to add events. We usually keep it updated for local concerts, hifi shows and audiophile related events. It doesn't have to be complex. Bacically, I need following:

What (Event title)
When (date picker and ability to enter dates manually perhaps)
Description (using Flarum editor would be great with ability to upload images)
Type (I keep it hardcoded but it would be nice to have option to edit types in admin area)

Widget for the front page which will show events on current day. I've added birthdays of forum members to that widget as well (the other extension for tracking birthdays).

The above would be great start to work with. In the future, calendar could be expanded with location info, etc..

By all means, if someone can get to the calendar extension faster than me, go ahead.
I am still catching up with client sites (flaurm and custom) and have many other obligations to tend to. If I were to release a production ready Calendar extension, it won't be around till next month or so at the earliest.
The other extensions I released, except for some quick jobs, were extensions that were sitting around in my collection that I have built 50% of the way I wanted them to. And lately have been commits to cater to the general public.
I think Silvestrus has something more in tune with what I was building. I think refinements and security + performance audit on his extension could be promising.

I mean if @KBExit is ok with it I'll start working on a calendar extension once I am done with this premium theme I am working on. Really pushing the boundaries of what you can do with Flarum and CSS.

As I said before:

flavour1 a new polished calendar extension suitable for community events would be the best thing to happen to my forum in 2026.

As @Capybara pointed out accurately, it is one of my main reasons I still stick with 1.8.

Basically I would suggest the same features as @Silvestrus and having something feeling more native would be a huge improvement.

The implementation of https://fullcalendar.io works almost fine, except the month grid on mobile is not really handy and the date entry is really annoying. It is currently at v7.0.0-rc.3, so probably there have been improvements. So one way to go is to wrap FullCalendar in a Mithril component as the webinaro extension.

Alternatively a pure Mithril implementation that feels much more native to Flarum with dayjs and date-fns providing a month grid, event dots, agenda/list/timeline view (important for under 768px width) and an event detail modal would do the trick as well i guess.

I’m really excited about this and would be happy to provide feedback during the development process.

I'm starting to work on a full featured calendar with iCal and Google Calendar export support. events widget, link to discussion, etc.

I should hopefully have something out tonight or tomorrow night (night meaning PM Central Time). Then I can work on polishing it based on feedback. It will still be a very feature rich build right off the bat but with feedback we can make it even better.

I went ahead and published/submitted to Packagist what I've got so far so people can test out and provide feedback so I can improve on it. Will make an announcement post about it later after it's been polished some more.

e.g.
the loading indicator (not sure why claude like to use this instead of flarum's own one)

The weekly view has misalignment

When I click save event, nothing is happening, no network requrest, no error in console

Also for the Activity heatmap, not sure why you want to add it in this extension, that feels more like something for a separate standalone extension e.g. FoskyM/flarum-activity-graph

Other than that cant really say anything, cuz I cant test the event function, the event is not creating 😿
But still, kudos for the effort you put in ♥️

huoxin I did say it was rough. Will be polishing things more tonight when I get off work and I will be changing the loading indicator. Depending on feedback the final polished version will probably drop tomorrow night. Of course I will continue to polish based on feedback.
