User Projects Extension — For Creator Communities

I have an idea for an extension that adds user projects — displayed on a separate page and linked to specific forum user(s). This extension is meant to be universal and can be used, for example, on a writers' forum where people share their books, or a game development community where everyone can showcase their game, or any other creator community. Therefore, the extension should be as flexible as possible. I'm not skilled in extension development, or programming in general, but I can describe the concept in detail. I'd be grateful if someone decides to implement something like this. Features Projects displayed as cards: with or without an image. Tags/categories: can be assigned to projects. Custom parameters: in varying quantities, with different value types (e.g., genre, age rating, release date, and so on). Search and filters: at the top of the page — a search bar across all projects, category filters, and an "Add Project" button. Submission form: clicking "Add Project" opens a form to fill out. Projects can be published immediately or submitted for moderation (admin approval/rejection). Configurable permissions: for publishing projects. FoF Badges integration: a badge is awarded after publishing a project. User profile integration: a dedicated tab for the user's projects, plus a featured project in the profile header. Featured project display: an icon of the project's main tag next to the username, with a tooltip showing the project name on hover. What's displayed on a project card Image (optional) Project author (user avatar and nickname, with a link to their profile) Tags / categories Project parameters (some required, some optional) Description with a character limit One or more buttons/links at the bottom Flexible button system Admin can choose how many buttons (links) can/should be added when creating a project. Buttons can be restricted by domain. For example: only YouTube channel links, only forum page links, or only links to a book platform. Or several specific resources. Custom button labels can be set, or standard labels can be assigned per button type. Example: A book could have multiple buttons: "Read Excerpt", "Buy" (external store link), "Discuss on Forum". Project detail page (when opening a project) All essential project data from the card at the top Text with support for forum discussion formatting Buttons/links from the project card Separate comments aren't necessary — a forum discussion link can be used as one of the buttons Likes/reactions — optional, can be added I put together a small visual mockup with the help of DeepSeek AI to show roughly what it might look like, and hosted it on my forum — https://forum.worldbuilding.su/p/projects-demo Yes, this is somewhat similar to the blog extension, but it serves a different purpose and has its own unique features. If you have your own ideas or additions, feel free to share them here. Some features may seem excessive — I'm not insisting on implementing all of them, but I hope I've conveyed the overall concept.

SergeyTS All nine items are fixed in v1.3.0. A few root causes you'll enjoy: the badge was never about your badge ID — the award code wrote to a column fof/badges doesn't have and the error was silently logged, so it failed for everyone (there's now a badge picker, no more IDs). Show more was a CSS conflict, and the modal's ghost border was the modal frame and its content being sized separately. Tag filters are pills now, tags on cards are clickable, parameters have descriptions shown in the form, and editing a declined project resubmits it for review. Enjoy the vacation — it should all be waiting for you when you're back.

ernestdefoe I've installed version 1.3.0, and there are a couple of things about it:

ernestdefoe the badge was never about your badge ID — the award code wrote to a column fof/badges doesn't have and the error was silently logged, so it failed for everyone (there's now a badge picker, no more IDs).

The badge awarding now actually works correctly, although users don't receive notifications about it. And badge selection is still done via ID, nothing has changed on that front.

I couldn't find parameter descriptions, there's still no way to add them. But tag descriptions now show up on hover.

Perhaps Claude doesn't quite understand what is meant by parameter descriptions? As for badge selection, I'm not sure if it's even possible to do without the help of that extension's developers, but if it can be done, that would be great.

ernestdefoe Hello! Well, it turned out to be a lot of items again 🙂, but most of them are minor. I've described them in as much detail as possible and attached some screenshots.

If a user is listed as a co-author on a project, that project should appear in their profile under the "Projects" tab.
Bug: in the admin panel, it's impossible to select a badge to award for publishing a project without linking it to a tag — the dropdown list has no options. The same function works fine in the tag add/edit menu.
Minor bug: in one of the previous versions, a pop-up would appear if you uploaded a cover image larger than the maximum allowed size. Now, there's no pop-up at all. The restriction itself works — the image doesn't upload — but there's no feedback for the user.
Following on from the previous point: the project creation window should include information about the maximum image size allowed for the cover image.
If possible: in the project creation window, I'd like to see formatting tools in the "Details" field, similar to those available when creating a forum post. If that's difficult to implement, then at the very least there should be a note indicating that formatting is supported in this field.
When clicking "Feature on profile," there's a one-second delay. It would be nice to fix this, similar to how the like button was fixed.
In the project creation window, there are some visual issues in the links section:
- The "Links" heading differs from the other headings in the window
- The overall spacing of elements needs adjustment
- The "Custom label (optional)" text slightly overflows the input field

In the list of project authors and co-authors, a comma is used as a separator, but it doesn't look very neat. In my opinion, the comma should either be raised to align with the author names (rather than with the avatars, as it is now), or a different separator should be used. This applies to both the project card and the project page.
- + The hover effect on the name of an author who is not a forum user should be removed.
In the project creation window, when you select a tag and the parameter list appears, required parameters have an asterisk "*" — it's colored white and blends into the background. Logically, this asterisk should be either red or match the heading color.
- + The same kind of asterisk could be placed next to the "Title" heading at the very top of the window, since that field is also required.
Visual bug: if the text inside a button is long enough, it doesn't fit within the button. This is due to the CSS property max-width: 150px;. Also, word wrapping should be added so the button doesn't end up overlapping the like button.
If you scroll down the projects page, open a project, and then go back — the entire projects page reloads from scratch. It would be better if the previous scroll position was remembered in such cases.
In the admin panel, there should be an option to reorder tags, parameters, and buttons, and this order should also affect how they're displayed on the project card/page and elsewhere.
All dropdown lists should be styled to match Flarum's visual style (except, perhaps, for the admin panel).
In the project creation window, at the very bottom, in the "Linked discussion" section, I think it would be better to add a discussion via a link rather than by its ID.
On the project card, there should be a small visual gap between the parameter name and its value.

ernestdefoe A couple of things that need some adjustments:

The Details field now has formatting tools, and they work, but there's an issue — the window is too small, the tools don't fit properly, and the placeholder text is pressed right up against the edges. Overall, the element layout needs some refinement. Everything can be seen clearly in the screenshot.
Some spacing adjustments are needed in the Links section of the project creation window — I've indicated on the screenshot where additional padding/margin should be added.
Changing the separator in the author list didn't solve the main issue — the separator height still doesn't match the height of the author names.
The dropdown lists haven't changed — they still use the default browser style rather than Flarum's.
