Link Robins Wiki

LR Wiki adds a wiki to your forum: public articles your members write and edit together, with full edit history. What it does Public articles anyone can read. Members with permission write and edit them together. Categories with their own color and icon, and a home page that lists each one with its first few articles. Readable addresses like /wiki/getting-started. Renaming an article keeps its old addresses working, so shared links never break. Full history. Every edit saves a revision, and you can see exactly what changed between versions. Drafts only you and wiki editors can see until you publish. A table of contents beside long articles that follows along as you scroll. FAQs under any article, as a list readers can expand. Related articles from the same category at the bottom. Comments under articles. Reports. Members can flag an article as wrong, out of date, off topic or a duplicate. Reports collect in the admin panel. Search inside the wiki, and articles also show up in the forum's own search. Articles use Flarum's formatting, so Markdown, BBCode, mentions and emoji all work. Found by search engines Every article is a real page with its title, description and full text sent with the page itself, so Google reads it even though Flarum is a JavaScript app. Links shared in chat apps show the title and description. If you have fof/sitemap, articles go in your sitemap, and with fof/seo it supplies the article metadata. Neither is required. Permissions Start articles, edit any article, comment, view history, and report, each grantable per group. Authors can always edit their own articles. Requirements Flarum 2.0 or later, PHP 8.3+ Install composer require linkrobins/wiki if(window.hljsLoader && !document.currentScript.parentNode.hasAttribute('data-s9e-livepreview-onupdate')) { window.hljsLoader.highlightBlocks(document.currentScript.parentNode); } Then enable it under Admin, Extensions, add categories in its settings, and grant the permissions. Excellent! Looking forward to it

tearofs Wiki v1.2.0 is out. Full notes: linkrobins/wikiv1.2.0

This release adds a table of contents for your articles.

New

Longer articles now show a "Contents" panel beside them, built automatically from the article's #, ## and ### headings. It stays in place as you scroll, highlights the section you're currently reading, and clicking an entry jumps straight to it.
A new "Table of contents" section in the admin settings, where you can turn the panel on or off for the whole wiki (it's on by default) and set how many headings an article needs before the panel appears, so short articles stay clean.

Good to know

On narrow screens the panel moves to the top of the article instead of the side.
If you also run Font Sizer, the contents panel scales along with the reading-size setting.
Every label is translatable.

What's changed

Housekeeping release after the extension's GitHub repository moved to its new home at linkrobins/flarum-wiki: the package's issue and source links now point at the new repository. No functional changes, so there is no rush to update.

The package name on Packagist is unchanged: it is still installed and updated as linkrobins/wiki.

How to update

composer update linkrobins/wiki

Stezkoy

This is a great extension, but there are a couple of caveats. The block code differs from the forum block. It's as if the code formatting isn't there. The plugin in the forum tags seems out of place; it's better to move it to the top of the articles (IMHO). Add the ability to disable viewing history for users and guests.
An embedded FAQ under the page would be great.

Karl

Stezkoy the extension is still immature, it can be further extended. When I have time next week, I'll look into these requests 🙂

And the text in the article does not fit on the screen) on mobile

Karl

Stezkoy can you submit a screenshot of what you mean?

Karl

Stezkoy thank you, I'll take a look at it when I get back home next week.

Wiki v1.3.1 is out. Full notes: linkrobins/flarum-wikiv1.3.1

This should resolve everything you've listed 🙂

Update:
Wiki v1.3.2 is out. Full notes: linkrobins/flarum-wikiv1.3.2

A follow-up to v1.3.1's navigation change: on wiki pages the sidebar could show the shared forum links in a different order than the rest of the forum, with Wiki and Support pushed below the divider. The navigation now reads the same on every page: the forum links first (with Wiki below Tags), then the wiki's own section under a divider.

Update with composer update linkrobins/wiki.

Karl
Thank you, at first glance everything looks great!

Karl

Stezkoy keep glancing at it lol. Find everything and anything so it can improve 🙂

Capybara

Thanks for the extension! A couple of suggestions:

Articles are currently created with numeric slugs. It would be useful to have the ability to set custom slugs — this would greatly help with SEO
LinkRobinsWiki-deletedNotice has poor visibility on light theme. Colors are hardcoded
Ability to customize the Wiki position in the sidebar via settings 👀
On mobile, the table of contents is positioned at the top of the page. What if you added a sticky header inside the article on mobile? It would include the article title on the left and a hamburger menu on the right. Clicking the hamburger would reveal the table of contents. Since the header would be fixed, users could access the table of contents even from the middle of the page

v1.4.0 is out, with the features most requested in the community thread:

Readable article URLs. Articles now get a URL slug from their title (like /wiki/getting-started instead of /wiki/12), and you can set your own while writing or editing. All existing numeric links keep working, and the update migration gives your existing articles slugs automatically.
A FAQ section for articles. Add optional questions and answers on the article form and readers get a collapsible FAQ under the article. Articles without entries look exactly as before, and the section ships structured data so search engines can show the questions as rich results.
Contents you can reach anywhere on mobile. On phones the table of contents is now a compact bar pinned below the forum header: tap it to unfold the sections from wherever you are in the article.
Fixed: the "this article is deleted" notice editors see was nearly invisible on light themes.

This release adds database migrations, so run php flarum migrate and php flarum cache:clear after updating.

Karl I'm flying home as fast as I can to test the update, thanks! 🚀

Karl

Capybara no problem! I haven't touched the navigation suggestion yet, this will be something I roll into for all of my extensions that serve an index. 🙂

Stezkoy

Hi, there is no way to add a link to third-party resources to the main wiki page /wiki

Karl

Stezkoy can you elaborate please?

Capybara

Karl Perhaps Stezkoy means HTML support, to add a widget or change the layout of the homepage. I actually wanted to suggest this to you

Stezkoy

Karl
I wanted to add a link to a third-party resource, but it displays it in text.
