Hello, I’m preparing to migrate my main forum to v2.0. But first, I have a few questions about the database. They’re beginner’s questions, but I want to make sure I don’t mess anything up. To back up the database, my host has a tool that automatically backs up the database. But I’d like to back it up manually. I'm on the right track with this process? Open phpMyAdmin In the left column, click on the name of the database in question. At the top of the page, click on the Export tab. Select the ‘Quick’ method and the ‘SQL’ format, then click the Run button. And finally, the backup file will download directly to your device.... ? 🙂 Other question : Since I’ve been using Flarum, I’ve fortunately not had any problems following a migration 🙏 So what happens if, unfortunately, the migration goes wrong? Do I need to import the database and reinstall Flarum from scratch, or the other way round? Thank you in advance for your reply/help.

Open phpMyAdmin

Wlork Yes you're exactly right here.

The download will be a regular browser download file, so wherever you'd normally have them saved is fine - the dump will go there, or anyplace you choose.

If you do need to roll back:

Restore the previous Flarum + extensions you had (to be on the safe side, I suggest you backup composer.json and composer.lock) - then it's a simple composer install to get everything back as you have today.
Then via phpMyAdmin, upload the dump file
php flarum cache:clear, php flarum assets:publish
You're now back to where you were

No, just re-instate the two composer files (.json and .lock), then run composer install

You'll only see this when there's no config.php file. This file is not modified during the upgrade to 2.0-RC, so a rollback (do this rather than a complete re-install) will still have it available.

Once the composer install has completed after a potential rollback, the forum will likely be broken, this is the point to then go to phpMyAdmin and upload the DB backup file you downloaded

Wlork but seriously, it's very unlikely you'll need to roll back. If you have any problems, or suspected problems, ping me directly and I'll jump in and help - I want to get this upgrade done for you as you've been so patient in waiting for the extensions to be ready that you need!

No, I think it’ll go really well 🙂 But as I’ve never had any problems before, I’d rather be prepared just in case...

Unfortunately, I had a setback last week, but tomorrow I will finally be able to migrate my forum to version 2.0 🙂 ! I'll keep you posted.

In Connection.php line 857:

php flarum extension:disable fof-polls

This will allow the migrations to run for the update, without uninstalling
