Private Messages - Direct messages and optional public chat

PRIMEPANEL

Private 1:1 conversations between members, plus an optional public chat room.

Compatible with Flarum 1.8.

What it does

Start a new conversation from a user’s Options → Send message
Inbox with unread counts in the header
Optional public chat (/chat) that every member can use
Notifications when someone messages you

Starting a new DM with the same user always opens a new conversation. Replying inside an existing thread stays in that thread.

Install

composer require prm/messages

Enable Private Messages, then:

php flarum cache:clear

Admin → Private Messages → turn Public chat on if you want the shared room.

PRIMEPANEL

Flarum 2.0 support is out

Private Messages now works on Flarum 2.0 (tested on 2.0.0-rc.8).

Flarum 2.x: composer require prm/messages:"^2.0"
Flarum 1.8: composer require prm/messages:"^0.1" (unchanged)

Composer picks the right version from your flarum/core constraint. Inbox, DMs, and public chat are available. If you also use core flarum/messages, disable one of them to avoid /messages route conflicts.
