I’m giving my useless opinion. I don’t like AMP for some reason. Maybe it’s honestly because it’s Google telling us we need to have this version of our sites. I mean, who do you think you are, Google!? The world’s #1 search engine? Pfft.
I also don’t like AMP because of the limited functionality. Sure it’s fast and Google likes it because it means we are doing what they tell us to do, but I have a fear (probably an irrational fear) that if my site has an AMP version, some visitors may never see my actual beautiful site. Especially if they always Google my site to find it and don’t ever bother manually typing in the URL.
AMP reminds me of something too in a way. It’s called RSS. I wish folks hadn’t decided to start moving away from that. RSS is the way to get a text only, super fast version of a site. AMP is just a little fancier and you don’t need a RSS reader. But, if browers weren’t evil, they’d all still have auto RSS detection and that would be that.
