You need PHP curl. What version of PHP are you using (php -v)?

If it's php5 you can install it via sudo apt-get install php5-curl in the command line.

If you're compiling it, it should include the flag --with-curl

Why is this then not part of the installation guide?

Because the most sane distros ship php by default with curl support?

Since you assume, that i use an old Debian based OS and when we take a look on how widespread these distros are - is it maybe a good idea, to include that info there.

In general is the whole tutorial - expandability - i use some nerves and time to find out, wheres my "servers configuration block" and yes i know that Flarum is still in an early stage and through that aimed for more experienced users as me.

On the other side can one line per OS make the life of potential users more easy and i hope that is in your propose. ?

Yeah, it appears this is required from a core extension's dependency flarum-ext-akismet

     - flarum/flarum-ext-akismet v0.1.0-beta.6 requires tijsverkoyen/akismet ^1.1 -> satisfiable by tijsverkoyen/akismet[1.1.0, 1.1.1].
    - tijsverkoyen/akismet 1.1.1 requires ext-curl * -> the requested PHP extension curl is missing from your system.

This

PHP 5.5+ with the following extensions: mbstring, pdo_mysql, openssl, json, gd, dom, fileinfo

should be changed to

PHP 5.5+ with the following extensions: curl, mbstring, pdo_mysql, openssl, json, gd, dom, fileinfo

I suggest distro specific commands

ShalokShalom That becomes more of a problem than it's worth. It's easier for us to list the requirements, and let our users search out the specific command for their distro (or seek help from their distro's support avenues). When most commands are a simple search away, trying to keep our list up to date and inclusive for all the possible OSes that Flarum might find itself installed on is really not worth the headache.

ShalokShalom A lot of software has easy one-step install guides for different distro's.
However, flarum is closer to something like wordpress rather then nginx

Installing a LAMP (Linux Apache Mysql Php) or LEMP (Linux Nginx Mysql/MariaDb Php) stack is the guide you're really looking for. After all, installing flarum is the same on all distro's once you've installed a LEMP stack.

While it's possible to create a guide on this, there are already existing and better guides then something I could write in a few hours. We could possibly provide reference to these guides?
