Where to keep extension's config

Hi Flarum!

I wonder if I am going to make an extension that uses a service with an api key, let's say "weather underground". Where can I store that user based api key and how to get that api information from the frontend ?

You should take a look at a similar extension, like one of the SSO auth extensions that do something similar.

jordanjay29 Actually, I was just looking at facebook auth and saw how they store app id like things. But they are called with PHP afterwards. Couldn't find any code on how to call settings from javascript

@XEngine you can save your setting just like facebook and github extensions, then you need to include those settings using API Serializer (PrepareApiAttributes event). then you can reach them via javascript using app.forum.attribute or app.admin.attribute function.

p.s. I'm not sure if it's still a good practice at this moment. preferred way may has been changed.

sijad I am on Beta 6 and I get NULL when I try to query $this->settings->get('url') in the AddApiAttributes.php

Is this way of doing it compatible with Beta 6?

Now I see. The settings repository is actually querying the database and not the config.php file.

c_costel use app('flarum.config') to read the config.php file.

luceos Thanks. Since I could not find this one I had to store the settings in the db. Now it is much cooler ?

c_costel i've actually used the config.php to store development variables, seeing Flarum has no .env file or anything to do such a thing ?
