Icons not appearing correctly, and SMTP issues

Hello. Over the last few days I've been trying to set up a forum with your software, however i've run into a few issues. With the help of someone else, we had tried everything to get SMTP to work through gmail, but we just couldn't get it. So i decided to completely reinstall XAMPP (with php version 5.6.28) as well as the forum, but now i've run into even more problems! The forum icons do not appear correctly. They're coming up as blocks as if it's a missing font and whatnot.

I tried logging in on 3 different browsers both on my own computer and on my VPS. When i visit my website on my phone, it appears the icons are using some kind of asian font.

I've reinstalled twice and nothing has worked and i can't figure out what the heck is going on. I'm not very good with web stuff, so bare with me. I'm willing to provide whatever information/errors/settings i can. I haven't tried SMTP since icons have been all screwy either.

Next time you run into such a simple issue as gmail smtp not working, post first before re-installing ?

Now you'll have to manually copy the font awesome files to your public directory to get them to work.

I'm not sure where they are, @jordanjay29 can probably help us with it ?

luceos If you or anyone else knows where these fonts might be and where to copy them to, that would be rad! Strange that it worked fine the first time, but not the second. Once we get this sorted out, i'll take another shot at SMTP and if there is issues, i will let someone know this time ?

I seem to have got both of these problems fixed. Emails seem to be sending just fine, and i found the font files and put them in the correct location.

Flufikas Where is the font files or what is the name of the directory that contains the files?

It's ok the icons has been fixed, all you had to do is go to Vendor > Components > Font-awesome and copy and paste the contents to the assets folder. Simples
