You're not providing context. First, what do you expect to be "fast". Second, why are you using -c100? Third, what kind of gear do you have? Fourth, what are you using in comparison to assess this is "slow"? Fifth, do you honestly expect to have 100 concurrent requests of traffic to your forum?
Let's give you some numbers to consider.
Most communities have 60-70% of their traffic in a 6hr window. That's 180 hours a month. 3600 seconds in an hour times 180 hours a month would mean you'd be getting over 100 million requests per month to your site (assuming a 1 second average request time at high load). That's a top 500 site, and no top 500 site can be expected to run on a single computer.
I don't think there's a single forum on the internet that has this kind of traffic, so the test is out of focus. Discuss gets about 120k requests per month. If you want to have a decent test, use concurrency in the single-digit range, and use similarly-featured applications to compare on the same hardware platform. That's a sane approach.
