Remove the number at the end of url + SEO suggestions

Hey there, Is saw a post on Flarum about SEO earlier but not sure where it's now. But I remember Toby said that he can remove the number at the end of the URL. I think this is a must. Thanks!

Personally I don't mind, after all the number at the end, it just refers to the reply ID.

daymond there is canonical url tag for that though: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/139066?hl=en maybe flarum can integrate it?

The integer at the end of the URL is of significant importance in my opinion. Let's break this down.

Without a message ID, you can't link to specific message within a discussion..

Specifically a trailing /1 is unnecessary though, because if the message-id part of the URL is left out, we go to the first post anyway. So:

http://discuss.flarum.org/d/479/remove-the-number-at-the-end-of-url-seo-suggestions/1

is the same as:

http://discuss.flarum.org/d/479/remove-the-number-at-the-end-of-url-seo-suggestions

Why don't we have # in front of the number. I've seen Vbulettin and XenForo do that for replies on their post (For example: demo.com/test-post/#comment-2. And also add canonical tag to avoid duplicate content.

Kulga ... Except that sometimes you actually want to point at post #1 ... especially if Flarum's default behavior (when opening a thread with no message ID for a logged-in user) is to show the latest unread thread.
