Yea, push-notifications inside the app and with the browser would be great. We've got pusher for now, and there's hope to switch to something that is less dependent on $$$ for the future. This could be taken on by a dev anytime, but rewriting pusher or working with a new event broadcasting might be best after the upgrade to laravel 5.3+
