ewanpayne In the beta period, nothing is really assured. For the most part, the biggest breaking changes occurred between Beta 2 and 3, and Beta 4 and 5. But the beta warning is up as a general disclaimer, things might break along the way to stable, and some flexibility is necessary.
While I don't think Flarum will keep you trapped in beta, you might have to upgrade any extensions you create or use once stable is out. I might be wrong. Of course, even if Flarum stable doesn't have a built-in path from beta, you can almost be sure someone in our community will make one, we have many clever people like that.
