IselthLozanoVillanueva It's not a good idea to send your server credentials in a public forum post. Check the console log as Xelson suggested by pressing F12 in your browser and then refresh and see what appears.

Hi, thanks for making this. I tried the chat, worked mostly well. However when a non-logged-in private browser guest sees an admin and a regular user chatting, the regular user's name shows up as [deleted] but the admin's name shows up still.

The names show up properly from the logged-in user and the admin's point of view. And actually this might just be a scenario for whenever there's 3 people, I didn't test long enough before I disabled the chat. I tried with both stable and dev-master, cleared and migrated.

Any idea why a user's name would keep showing up as [deleted] to a 3rd party viewing the two chatting?

portals2 hi. Looks like regular users are not allowed to view the accounts of others. Try to set option 'View user list' in permission settings to 'Everyone', i hope this helps you.

scenox it seems to me that this is a rather strange feature but it is not the first time that it is offered then maybe i'll add this function on todo list

And a separate post for this wall of miscellaneous and more minor requests:

-Any plans to be able to cut the minimum chat window size in half both veritically and horizontally? This would give medium and smaller screens enough space to keep chat open while using the forum instead of having to minimize it each time.
-Any plans to get this working on mobile browsers other than desktop mode? Also, window resize doesn't seem to work on desktop mode for mobile.
-Are image uploads working still? Perhaps I'm using the wrong extension (flagrow/upload), but the option doesn't show up in the chat
-Any plans to get the chat to start off minimized to a new visitor instead of default expanded? It looks like minimization state persists for logged in users, very nice
-Any plans to shut off viewing for non-registered users entirely?
-Any plans to more robustly automatically update to the most recent chat? Perhaps I'm describing this incorrectly but to memory, after scrolling outside the chat window, the chat gets stuck on a message as if it were the most recent chat, and even after sending a new message it doesn't automatically bump the newest message into view. Not the end of the world, but confusing to the user at first.
-Any plans to enable mods/admins to view user-deleted messages? The user can view his deleted message, but mods/admins can't
-Any plans to more robustly update the chat when multiple tabs are open? Currently it only seems fully functional on one tab at a time

Thanks for all your work! I know this is a big project, it's looking really good so far.

portals2 thanks for large feedback! I answer to your questions:

1) It might be appropriate to add adaptability of the chat size for different screens as well as the ability to resize frame vertically. I'm not sure it's very priority task.
2) It would be good to support desktop first and then mobile version
3) Uploading to a forum's storage via flagrow/upload is not supported for now, but it's planned and it's priority task
4, 5) Yeah, this option is also planned
6) This is a known bug, a fix in progress
7) The user can see their deleted messages only during the current session, and they will disappear after the page is reloaded. If you mean seeing them forever then it's a good idea. I'll add this to todo list
8) I haven't tried it yet and I don't know why, but I'll figure it out

That's not a strange request at all. Chat should not be available publicly unless you are logged in. That's an accepted standard for a forum.

I've tried both version: "Stable" and "Dev"
After enabling I can see only:

There was a small update on the dev branch of the chat:

New permission for moderators: ability to see messages deleted by users as long as they are not physically deleted;
New chat option: initial minimization of the chat for new users;
New chat option: censoring messages for unregistered users;
As mentioned above: now you can delete messages physically.

Updating to dev-build:

Only via composer:

php flarum migrate
php flarum cache:clear

L1fe make sure you are running the command in the Flarum folder (the folder that contains composer.json and config.php)
