Just noticing that locked threads, although unable to reply to, users that posted in lock thread can still edit posts which IMO limits the function of locking a thread.
It ends up making the thread one in which only those who participated in before it was locked, can still post to.
If there was a way to make a lock thread to be readonly, it would prevent editing.
Better yet, just disable/remove the edit button in the same way the reply button is unavailable.
