If you're referring to having to edit the Nginx configuration files, though, I don't think there's a way around that, or do you know one?

The difference is what they posted is universal and the extra you posted is user-specific - so it should explain why it's being set as is. As for it not working, it doesn’t work if you simply copy and paste.
Now - I know flarum is designed to be as easy as possible to install so perhaps it should include the entire nginx config

With that in mind, I would suggest the following (or similar wording):

listen 80; # What port to listen on - commonly 80
server_name domain; # e.g. discuss.flarum.org
root /install/directory/; # Where the flarum extracted files are located

Kulga nope my configuration is different, I added "index index.php" in location /.
Otherwise I get an error 403 http://nginxlibrary.com/403-forbidden-error/

matty This forum is using a more developed version than is currently available for download.

It's already got many of the improvements and fixes that will be included in the next beta version.

samymassoud Stickys have been designed so they don't remain on top in All Discussions because too many such threads would crowd recent content off the front page. Look here for a detailed explanation and discussion.

If you have any specific issues after following the instructions, then check the forums to see if anyone else has had (and solved) a similar problem. And then, if you're still stuck, feel free to open a "Support" tag thread about it.

Support is provided to users who want to help test Flarum and report issues responsibly.

If you're having difficulty with the instructions provided on the site, and can't explain your difficulty in more specific terms, then are you sure you really want to be helping to test software that's still in the beta stage?

Although we can offer some support for specific issues related to the installation of Flarum, we won't be able to walk you through the basics. There are plenty of resources on the internet that can help you learn the things you need to know. Before asking here, I recommend you take advantage of Google (or some other search engine you like).
