Troubleshooting Beta Install

Initial Install via Browser gives me a bunch of

[27-Aug-2015 14:12:13 UTC] PHP Warning: file_put_contents(<snip>flarum/storage/framework/views/70f90df9163cfde24e1d328ebe8eace6): failed to open stream: Permission denied in <snip>/flarum/vendor/illuminate/filesystem/Filesystem.php on line 81

Followed by a bunch of include errors for the same file.

When I try to install via CLI after provding the DB / URL config, I get the following.

Testing config

[PDOException]

could not find driver

install [-d|--defaults]

A bit late for me here, will troubleshoot and report back tomorrow. 🙂

Make sure the flarum/storage and the assets folders are writable.

Went past the first screen .. has a missing pdo_mysql and a messaging stating that the root folder is not writeable.

Might be worth documenting the file permission issues and / or running some basic checks before the install bombs out.

Late here for me and have an early start tomorrow. Will check back in tomorrow and work through the instlal.

Ah, I see. We did implement some permission checks, but the installer uses Laravel's Blade templates which is attempting to write to the unwritable directories before the error message can be displayed!

The console installation doesn't do any error checking currently. We'll need to improve that.

Got it installed. Was fairly easy once I sorted out the missing pdo_mysql extension. (custom build php 5.6).

Keen to get into the code. Will do over the weekend and raise issues on github as required.

One problem with that is that often command line PHP has other extensions installed than the web one.

Franz True - It could be made super intelligent (and I'm not suggesting you do) to do a curl request ... Never mind, I'm already going down a path that should NOT be gone down.. 😉
