Two questions before I 'invest'

Hi there Flarum community. As I'm looking for a replacement to the forum software running behind a community website I manage, Flarum has become of great interest to me.

With that in mind, I wanted to know these things.

Will it be quick an easy to update? (Ideally, can it update via your web browser like you do with WordPress?)
Are there ways non-developers can contribute to Flarum? (I'm familiar with HTML and CSS, but otherwise not much of a coder...)

Welcome to Flarum!

@Zeokat is correct about updates, at the moment they are handled using a command-line script called Composer which requires shell (SSH, which you use via a terminal or Putty on Windows to access your remote server). The updates are very fast, however, and don't require much user input at all (you can check out the update instructions from our latest beta release announcement).

As for contributing, there are many ways to do this without contributing code.

You can offer knowledge and support for issues that users present on this board
You can join the discussions on requested/proposed features and design changes
You can report suspected bugs here on this board.
You can confirm bugs or offer feedback on Github issues
You can translate Flarum if you have fluency in another language (and check out the existing language packs, though there are some languages with multiple packs, too)
You can donate to Flarum if you feel financially secure
You can also just be a fan and join the discussions here, on Gitter or on Twitter @Flarum or anywhere else you want to boost the word about Flarum

At the moment o the updates should be done with composer. This methos is easy but needs shell access to the server.

About contribute, i think that the answer is yes. You can try to search bugs or help users arround.
