Memory Requirements?

Hi,

I am planning to set up Flarum today and can't find any specific documentation on hardware requirements. I am going to install on a VPS (Vultr, similar to DigitalOcean) and I am wondering what I need. I am looking at a 2 GB RAM virtual machine, but after reading some forum posts here on how memory efficient Flarum really is, I am thinking this might be overkill.

Some background: At first the forum is only going to be used for a small team of roughly 20 people, but down the road we might be expanding this to 3500 users.

Money is not really an issue, I want Flarum to run as good as possible, but if 2 GB of RAM won't ever be used in this kind of setup, then I will gladly save some money and go with a 1 GB VPS.

Any thoughts?

For a start with membership around 20, I think 1gb ram is OK.
I tested it on php7 installed on 1gb ram and it runs smoothly.
Don't think 20 members will be an issue. You can increase the server resources as the the membership and traffic increases, running on InnoDB engines means it can handy large forums pretty well when allocated the needed resources.

I agree, 1 GB should be enough.

If I remember correctly, this very site runs on either the smallest (512 MB RAM) or second-smallest size (1 GB RAM) of DigitalOcean droplet.

Alternatively, as I have not tested it out yet; I highly recommend:

Both scripts will install Flarum using LEMP stack.
