PHP Error

Hi there,
I recently got my site up and running. I have a few small problems. I am getting the following PHP error on my pages (I have php output turned on)

When clicking any buttons like the refresh discussions button, I get an an error in the bottom of the screen tht says:

Oops! Something went wrong. Please reload the page and try again. Debug

When I click debug or other buttons like sign up or start new discussion, I get a blueish overlay on the page and nothing else happens.

Running Ubuntu 16.04, Using AWS for hosting, Apache2 Webserver.

I dont believe the Depreciated error has anything to do with the Oops! message.

Did you make changes?

I would suggest to do a fresh 'new' install using one of the Flarum install scripts, else you can spend days trying to troubleshoot what never was a good install from the beginning:

If your using AWS, you could just spin up another free tier Ubuntu instance and run one of the scripts while you try to troubleshoot your other instance.

AdamW78 Try the solution by 0E800 also, it just might be a cache problem. Just try a basic CTRL+ F5 on your main page and try after for me.

Also check your config.php if there's no www. and you try to access your site from the other method (non www.) it may cause some problems.

0E800 I couldn't get either to work. I did a fresh install using the basic composer method. The first script kept spitting out MySQL errors about how my password didn't meet the requirements, and the second just didn't run.

Make a stronger password for the first script (Use a number and a upper and lower and make it 8 characters long).
I use the first script and it works flawlessly all the time for me.
How much memory does your host have?

0E800 I have 1 gigabyte of RAM. I can, if necessary, create a swapfile.
EDIT: Changed my password to something more secure, no changes, same errors.
EDIT 2: This script is trying to install on nginx. I'm using Apache2 in a LAMP stack. I wondered why I kept having to kill processes on port 80 in the past day. This explains it.

I think the reason your site it not working is because AWS assigns dynamic IP addresses.
Somehow in your setup, you are not accounting for this. I believe in the script setup you are using an actual name and not your AWS IP.

I'll fire up a new aws instance and help.
It's been a while, but I vaguely remember having to set the ip instead of www.name

This is what I have in my sites enabled:

server {
  listen 80;

  root /var/www/red;
  index index.php index.html index.htm;
  error_log /var/log/nginx/error.log error;

  server_name 54.71.117.21 *.amazonaws.com;
...
...
...

You need to set the server name as your instance IP

I created a new instance: (ports 80/HTTP and 22/SSH enabled)

First thing I do is ssh to my instance and get the script:

This first thing is asks you is the domain name for the flarum forum. This has to be your amazon AWS IP as you do not have a domain name. For my test, the ip of my instance is 35.164.8.98
Note: you can chose to use a specific name like 'cool-forum-name' but will need to edit /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/cool-forum-name.conf after the script finishes and change server name to your AWS IP. Also keep in mind if you register a domain name, then you will have to change that IP to your site.org in your sites-enabled config.

So after I create a password then type my password, it ends up finishing like this:

Then you type your AWS IP into the web browser and ....Voilà!

At this setup screen is where you actually 'Name' your Flarum forum.
Then you use the flarum username and database that is generated at the end of the script.
For table prefix, I just keep it blank.

Uh whaaat? HTTP runs over port 80. If you don't allow it, nothing will show. Not quite understanding that comment.

You shouldn't be running the script on top of a previous install. Create a new aws instance and start from scratch.

1gb is perfect.
The script creates a LEMP stack. Why I was suggesting creating a new free tier instance.
I also use AWS and the script works flawlessly.

Do you have all the needed ports available?
