Categories or tags?

Is there plans to make category system or tags only? I think tags should have flat hierarchy while categories have multi levels and category images. I feel that way the forum is more organized (Just my opinion).

I have no problem with the current tag system, but there should be a way to users to create collections of their own. Categories can maintain the administrated structure of the forum. Current primary tags and secondary tags might feel same for some users and confuse them. Any thoughts?

I believe users in the mod or admin group. Normal users, I dont think so.

Well, you can always default your home page to the /tags route.

It's actually a setting in the Admin CP under Basics.

A live and public example.

But in retrospect, Flarum is modern and unique, looking like other forum software with regards to design wouldn't make Flarum stand out from the rest. I believe the tag system is beautiful all around (other than having to fidget around with the drag and drop of tags to get them in the right order).
