Flarum and its relation to Laravel

Could you, guys, explain me, please? If flarum is a Laravel project, how come flarum directory structure is so different from what I get by running "laravel new projectName"? Where is artisan? Where is bootstrap folder? And is there any way to put them back?

We are using many of Laravel's components, but we assemble them ourselves. I hope that explains the custom directory structure...
