What's a safe alternative to use until flarum is released?

Hi folks, just signed up and am absolutely loving the look and feel of flarum.
Anyway, I need to start a forum up ASAP, and expecting quite a few (40k) members to join due to the nature of the subject/topic. Need to get off (censoring) Facebook and on a private domain running a forum, and I really like flarum and have decided to go with it. So since it's not ready, but I need to get a forum up and running kinda now, I just wanted to know what forum script I should use, that will be an easy transfer over to flarum when the time comes?
Should I go esotalk for now, since it's the original developers script, making it a safe bet that it'll be an easy migration?

DenoBudimir it’s actually ready but just in beta, you may still use it! I use it for production and it works like a charm!

@[deleted] is correct and heck, 3rd party extension development is developing at a stable rate so there's so much room for growth!

I agree with the previous responses, that Flarum is worth a go, my only advice as such is to make a list of extensions you want to install.

Yeah I'd love to use it straight up, but the composer and ssh might confuse me. I haven't done it for at least ten years now, so it sort of scares me lol

I personally use Flarum in a production environment and despite it not being the most popular of sites to visit, it has served me well and continues to do so with every release. I don't use any modifications to maintain its minimalist and non-bloated approach, however I wouldn't mind an out-of-the-box private messaging feature which I am sure will come with the suite eventually.

Flarum really is a powerful forum software right now despite its beta appearance. The development staff are still motivated and set on getting things ready for stable and I'm sure you can agree that the community and fanbase behind it is second to none; they're a very knowledgeable and helpful bunch. You won't regret sticking with Flarum. My only suggestion is to tread lightly with modifications to make the transition to stable as smooth as possible. As you can understand anything in beta that's heavily reliant on custom modifications will always encounter issues and push errors.
