Possible Issue with New Users

Hey Dev Team,

I had one issue with a new user who tried to sign up but in his own non tech words "No error. It asks for username, email and password. Once I click sign up, it just spins and doesn't load a new page."

He was using Chrome on a Mac.

I did notice a weird error with using disposable emails. It would do exactly that. Tell them to try a different email?

That didn't work, it could be a big bug where no one can sign up

Can you help them find out what error comes back from the AJAX call?

My guess: the entered password was too short (min. 8 characters are required).

Franz It seems that the 8 digit password is not the problem here. With my little understanding i can't do much but i want to help. So i got this log, if it can help.

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 422 (Unprocessable Entity) POST http://forum.kotorisub.pw/api/users 422 (Unprocessable Entity)

The forum being somewhat public, you can follow the root URL with no problem.

That means validation failed. If it's not the password, it might be the username containing illegal characters, e.g. spaces or dots?

Franz I used the testtest username, so that's a no...
And the password was 12345678910.

Take a look at the validation rules to see which fields the user has to validate. Emails could be duplicated, etc.

Also, please follow the troubleshooting guidelines I linked above. Use the browser console to find the full error message. That should help us with the real problem.

Edit : I will see with my hoster and try to eradicate this fail on my end. I will update later if that was truly a problem created by me. Sorry to bother !

Oh, so it's a 500 error, not 422.

Probably misconfigured SMTP. Follow these steps to configure it properly. 🙂

New users can't register on http://www.numopen.fr/discussions/
User have no error message, nothing happens (you should add an error message).
I looked this with Firefox, there's a 422 error.
I tried http://flarum.org/docs/installation/#configuring-smtp but I don't find the mail_driver: smtp variable in the config table (and perhaps it's not a smtp problem in my case?).
I'm using beta 2 version.

422 means validation failed. Probably one of the following reasons:

username invalid
password too short (min. 8 characters)

But is it necessary ? In beta 1 version, it was working but not in beta 2 version. I don't remember, when Flarum is installed, we need to give the smtp server name ?
I looked at the config table, the values are in blob and are not readables, I understand nothing.

Ahhhh, it was because password is too short. COuld you add a message in the inscription window to inform of that ? I've got users who complain it doesn't work.
