Installing on Windows

Had substantial issues installing on windows, requires a myriad of vagrant plugins and still never got it fully working. Attempted to use install by command line but can't find where to input db info. Any help appreciated.

I'm unable to install the github version of Flarum, but this version I am, which is rather strange because I was able to earlier today, but I guess these things happen.

Yeah, we do some rather non-trivial things when bundling up that package for download, so unless you really know what you're doing, I'd avise against using the version you find on GitHub directly... 🙂

Would be great however to be able to contribute on windows, perhaps someone more experience with vagrant have a modified vagrantfile that works?

diit If I were you, I would be providing screenshots, step-by-step on what you did/clicked on/typed, and error messages that indicates the problem(s) you've been experiencing. Then you can get better responses towards narrowing the problem(s).

Auk Toby Franz Got it working with the docker port someone built, might be nice to add to docs for the few windows developers 😉 Especially with the weirdness of win10 and VM's.

Toby Not really. I have Windows, but I'm mostly using Ubuntu, especially when working on Flarum. 😉

I agree, I'm really at ease on ubuntu and using vagrant etc. But the documentation on the steps are really vague or referring to build scripts. I'd prefer you either set up proper developer documentation to get a development up and running or provide a script to create a development environment for you (with my own forks). As I'd really love to contribute, at this time it's very time intensive.

Franz I am, docker's kitematic is fantastic and you can have it running one-click in a GUI environment however it also has issues with virtualbox where you have to install the bleeding edge new versions, I think I have 5.0.2

On top of that I have 0 clue how git is even handled with docker, its a whole new world haha. Either way once this is setup, I will be contributing.
