Does flarum actually write to any files besides assets?
In any case, please do not do this as a permanent basis. It is indeed a very bad idea.
Think of it as a friend who got locked out of their house and told you they have access again by sledge-hammering every window, every door, every wall. It works all right, but I wouldn't trust them to maintain a "secure home" lol.
