luceos As you'll also notice, he also has rewards setup for those that support him, at the moment Flarum has nothing to offer other than insight or little bits and pieces of content, with how Flarum's development is, there isn't much to do other than donating for the sake of donating, which isn't a bad thing but also isn't a good thing when using Patreon, in the end, it would be just like using PayPal as it is now, you'd just have those within the community wanting more insight or content per month/delivery of said content. Another example would be when Toby started up a Kickstarter to crowdfund Flarum, it's not really needed, donating should always be optional for open source projects, sure you can use Patreon for such a thing, but to most users of Patreon, if there isn't some kind of reward system in place you won't get very far.
